As a cadet you have the opportunity to fire 3 different rifles. Each requires the cadet to pass their 1st class examination. After or during this time the cadet is required to pass a WHT (Weapon Handling Test) for each weapon. This ensures that the cadet is safe and competent enough to handle the weapon safely.

The weapons cadets can handle are:

• Enfield No 8 .22 rifle
• L98 Rifle
• L81 Rifle

Marksman
If a cadet shows marksmanship skills she/he can look at obtaining their marksman badge. There are several types of Marksman badges, these consist of:
• Squadron Marksman
• Wing Marksman
• Region Marksman

Cadet 100
A cadet showing a extreme amount of skill can be put forward for the cadet 100 award. This is a very high level competition where the top 100 cadets in the corps are chosen for this award. This award is placed on the cadets uniform.
