Foreword

Foreword by Flight Lieutenant Ernest Walton RAFVR(T)
Commanding Officer, 2050 (Leyland) Squadron

Hello and welcome to the 2050 (Leyland) Squadron website.

The Squadron has a lot to offer young people, (more than any other youth organisation). Think of anything that the other organisations do, and we probably do it: Sports, Adventure Training, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Leadership Camps in the UK and Overseas. Then add to this, things the other groups probably do not do:- Flying, Gliding, Hang gliding, Parachuting, Flying & Navigation scholarships. So what are you waiting for, come along and join the best and largest youth organisation in the UK.

The Squadron meets Monday & Thursday 1900 - 2130 hrs on Woodlea Road, which is behind the leisure centre (swimming baths). Please feel free to come along (bring your parents) any parade night and see who, what, where and how we do things. It all seems very daunting at first, everyone doing their thing and all knowing what to do when and how. Your first thoughts will probably be "I will never learn to do any of that". Well relax, we all started with the same thought, even me. You will find all the staff and cadets friendly and helpful. Don't be afraid of asking the 'stupid' questions, we all need to learn and if you don't ask, we don't know what it is you don't know. Make sure you get an answer that you can understand, if you don't then ask again, either the same person or someone else, you can always come to me, I don't bite, ask anyone!

Who Are We?
2050 (Leyland) Squadron is part of a youth organistation called the Air Training Corps (A.T.C.), which in turn forms part of the Air Cadets. The Air Cadets is for anyone aged between the ages of 13 and 18 who want to experience the thrill of piloting an aircraft and many other enjoyable activities such as camping, sports and shooting.

When Do We Meet?
2050 (Leyland) Squadron parades every Monday and Thursday evening from 19:00 to 21:30 at the Squadron HQ in Leyland
