Gliding

When you reach the age of 14 a cadet can take part in a GIC (Gliding Induction Course).

On a cadets first flight they will run through:
- Fitting of parachute and helmet,
- Main controls of aircraft,
- Straight and level flight and some basic turns

On a cadets second flight they will usually run through:
- More advanced turns,
- Touch and go landings,
- Cover more advanced gliding skills such as using thermals

Gliding Scholarship
Once a cadet has completed their GIC and reached 24 March, 2011 p. This is usually several weekends or a 1 week placement at the gliding school.

There are two types of wings you can obtain from a gliding scholarship:
- Gliding scholarship (undertaken the weekend courses and or the week course)


- Gliding Scholarship solo (undertaken the weekend courses or the week course to solo standard)

- Advanced Gliding Scholarship (undertaken the weekend courses or the week course + completed several solo's and learnt soaring techniques.
