Classifications







































Cadets are expected to undertake several exams after a certain amount of training is given. There are several levels you can reach these are:

First Class Cadet Training:
The Air Training Corps
The Royal Air Force
Initial Expedition Training
Communications
Map Reading
History of Flight
Airmanship I
Basic Drill
No8 Rifle
Heart Start
*Note Basic Drill and No8 Rifle is a assessed practically, compared to the others which are paper based examinations*

For this award the cadet will be awarded with a badge to put on the cadets brassard.

Leading Cadet Training:
Basic Navigation
Principles of Flight
Airmanship II

For this classification the cadet will be awarded with a badge to replace the previous classification badge on their brassard to symbolise their progress. At this classification an outstanding cadet may be promoted to the rank of Corporal.



Senior Cadet Training
Propulsion
Air Navigaton

For this classification the cadet will be awarded with a badge to replace the previous classification badge on their brassard. At this classification an outstanding Corporal may be promoted to Sergeant.



Staff Part I
• Operational Flying
• Airframes

At this stage in the classification the cadet is half way to getting his/her staff classification. There is no badge received for this classification, so the cadet keeps the senior badge on their uniform.

Staff Part II

This consists of two parts:
Interview
The interview consists of a 1:1 discussion with your wing staff officer, he/she will ask questions related to the ATC, these can range from information about the staff, committee etc at a squadron level to questions about region and corps.
Lesson
You will be asked to teach a lesson for 10 mins to show that you are capable of teaching a subject to a number of cadets.


Once the cadet has achieved this classication they are have reached the highest classification that can be awarded. To symbolise this the cadet will be awarded a yellow lanyard. The cadet can now teach other cadets to get them through their classifcations.
