Hiking

Cadets have the opportunity to go Hill Walking, this allows cadets to get to know other cadets better, keep fit, expand their navigational skills and possibly build on their leadership skills
Cadets in the past have gone to places such as Mount Snowdon in Wales and often do the Chorley 4 peaks (as its is pretty close to the squadron)

Initiative Excersises

During any initiative excersise the teamleader is expected to use the SMEAC process. This process if followed through properly will allow the teamleader to brief, and execute the task efficiently. This is what SMEAC means:

S - Situation - this is where you explain the problem/situation to your team, this is only given in a basic form.
M - Mission - This section is the teamleader telling the team the mission this will be repeated
E - Execution - this is how your going to execute the mission, this should be highly detailed so everyone knows what they should be doing.
A - Ask Questions - this is where you ask everyone if they have any questions towards the mission
C - Check Understanding - the leader now asks questions to members of the team based on the mission to check they know what they are doing.

Canoeing
We are lucky to have a trained canoeing instructor who is able to teach cadets how to canoe safely. Our squadron also lucky to have its its own set of canoes, allowing cadets to go canoeing as often as possible.

Whilst on the water you will be tought how to paddle in a straight line and learn how to turn efficiently. Cadets may also be able to play a few games whilst on the water.Should a cadet become competent enough on the water - he/she will be able to obtain their One Star Kayak badge.
